How does ranking work on PromoBid?

Rank is the bid, nothing else. There is no editorial ordering and no hidden weighting. If two listings sit at the same amount, the one that got there first ranks higher.

What does it cost to outbid someone?

Bids are whole US dollars and the step grows with the amount: +$1 below $20, +$2 below $50, +$5 below $100, +$10 above that. Passing a $20 listing costs $22, not $21.

There is no weekly reset. Instead every bid loses exactly one ladder step per day — $1/day below $20, $2/day below $50, $5/day below $100, $10/day above. A day of silence costs you exactly what it costs someone else to pass you. At $0 a listing fades to a collapsed section and any $1 bid revives it.

What do I actually get for the money?

A row on the board, and a real post. Every 6 hours the board freezes: the overall #1 gets a solo post from a real X account and each category #1 is named in the roundup. That's 8 posts a day, and every one of them is linked from the promotions page — so nothing is a promise you can't check.

Do I need an account?

No. There are no accounts and no signup. A listing is identified by its normalised URL, so pasting the same link again tops up the existing row instead of creating a second one.

Raising a listing you're already on. You pay only the difference: a row showing $2 that wants $6 pays $4. Topping up refreshes your timestamp, so it costs you your tie-break seniority.

Yes, while the bid hasn't been promoted yet — ask and we'll refund it, and the board value it bought is reversed at the same time. Once your post has gone out, the thing you paid for has been delivered.

Is the money real, and where does it go?

Payments are handled by Dodo Payments as Merchant of Record. Everything the site claims about itself — total raised, clicks sent, posts delivered — comes from our own tables and is published on the stats page.
